This year brought about many changes and surprises. I mean, I certainly didn't begin the year thinking I would close out the year with pink hair, but there you go. And that isn't even the biggest change. But I am ready for the new year and new decade! 2010!!!
So in honor of ushering the new year in, I will be cleaning/reorganizing my crafts and master bedroom and closet. Also lots of laundry! I really want to get it all caught up today. Wouldn't that be nice to start the new year with no laundry to do?
I've made a list of 53 things I want to do in 2010, in honor of my 53rd birthday in June. Blogging more is actually one of them. : )

Hair Raising Experience
Okay, so I will admit I saw Elsie Flannigan's red hair and thought "Oh, how cute"! I thought maybe I would dye my hair a kind of medium-dark reddish shade. Although I've dyed my own hair many times, I've lnever actually used pure bleach. I've always just used the one-step boxes you get at the store. I have added highlights, but it's not the same as using bleach all over.
So I look at all the boxes and I find the one with a model on the front with the color of red I think I'd like.
See how dark the girl's hair looks? Vibrant, but a dark red. So I buy it, come home and follow the directions, which include bleaching first and covering with plastic, so you can't actually see what it happening underneath. I leave it for the minimum of 30 minutes, take off the plastic bad and not only is the front of my hair platinum blonde but because there really wasn't enough bleach for all my hair, the rest is splotchy. I'm scared, but I push on... at this point what else can I do?
I put on the bright, reddish pink dye and cover again with a plastic bag. I waited the minimum time, pulled off the plastic bag and stuck my head under the bathtub faucet without even looking in the mirror. The bathtub quickly fills with bright pink runoff as Jussara walks into the room. We are both confused. "Oh Mom, oh Mom"! But I still haven't seen my hair yet. I finally get it rinsed and look into the mirror. I was in utter and complete shock.
I feel like laughing and crying at the same time. It DOES NOT look like the girl's hair on the box. I get it dried, and show Cameron, he is shocked and laughing and immediately starts taking pictures. I show Greyson and he says he loves it. He wants to do a photoshoot. The next day, Jaiden wakes up and sees it and likes it. I get a text later in the day from Cameron asking me to leave it this way for awhile. He likes it. For the first two days I wear it completely tucked up under caps. I was taking Jussara to school and didn't want to embarrass her. By the third day, she was used to it and I just wore it exposed. Now she loves it. They all do. What the hey!
I am scared to try and change it for fear I will turn it orange or green. I've decided to keep it until Christmas. It is kind of festive and Christmasy. Since my kids actually love it and I am trying to get used to it. It's fun. Life is short - do some crazy things once in a while, it will always make a good story later on in life. LOL. The only real problem is trying to coordinate my clothes with my hair without clashing. So here's the Red Hair! I actually looks more red irl.
